“Very nicely designed hotel, but the overall experience is less then great for two main reasons: 1)The room design is totaly unergonomic. One cannot fill the bathtub other than by turning on "bottom" shower, which showers entire room floor with water. One cannot switch showers with wet hands - switch is made of polished metal, hence VERY slipery. When taking conventional shower, entire floor gets wet, as there is no shower enclosure/ curtain. My wife could not lock the window as the handle is at the bottom of the frame and requires significant force to lift etc etc 2) too close to busy road”

“noise from nearby road and race track (seems to get used on weekends) impacts the relaxation by the pool and even on the verandas outside the rooms; our room was fairly small with nice design features but not very practical, e.g. clothes had to be hung up in bathroom which was rather damp because of lack of window, no hooks etc. Air con device right next to one of the beds so we had to switch it off during the night. Otherwise great design details of the hotel, all very well kept, especially gardens.”

“Caol Ishka suited us perfectly even for a longer than normal break of 12 days. Location just outside Syracuse was very convenient for access to the city, local beaches and other sights. Nice pool to relax by. Charming and helpful staff throughout.”

“Perfect romantic get away, wonderful restaurant with fab seasonal food, discreet but efficient helpful staff, great bathooms, comfy beds, nothing was too much trouble. We felt like we were at a private villa with staff rather than a hotel it was so intimate.”

“The hotel was reasonably priced, and well located by car from Siracusa. A modern, minimalist approach to decor was appreciated after the more elaborate, old style hotels elsewhere on the island. The hotel's pool was a big draw.”
